Description: |
I admit it, I'm a Rock Hound. I can't resist picking up rocks. So why not paint the things that I like? Painted rocks? No, paintings of rocks. Hence, The Geology Series. "The Geology Series, Sedimentary 101" is my artistic interpretation of sedimentary rock. You've seen those places where they cut the roadway right through a hill. This leaves an exposed sample of layer upon layer of different types of rock. I've been known to pull my car over and get out to get a closer look. It's like a Geological time capsule. "Enough about the rocks already, tell us about the painting." The colors in this one are just about every color I have in my paint box. There is even a bit of copper. The predominate colors are warm yellows and browns with splashes of red and cool blue tones to balance all that warm color. I had lot of fun painting this one. I hope you like it as much as I do. The specks you see, are shine. I sealed this one to intensify the rich colors. There is another painting "The Geology Series, Sedimentary 102" that is similar to this one and the same size. These 2 paintings look so good hanging side by side in my studio. Check it out. You just might have the perfect spot for this pair. |
