Description: |
"The Art Of Metal Series", "The Old Concho Belt 1" is an example of my Sculpted Canvas technique. I really like the colors, the warm earth tones really set off the bright turquoise and silver. This is the second of 3 paintings of concho belts with silver leaf and turquoise, against dark brown leather. The silver is shiny and hard to photograph, but the effect is stunning. I included a photo without lighting to show how shiny the conchos really are. The whole canvas is extremely textured and the oval conchos are 3 dimensional. Everyone who sees it asks me how I did that. Well, I used a template, some putty, sandpaper and a lot of patience. But I think the effort was worth it. It turned out great! In the "Art of Metal Series", I will be experimenting with different colored metals and 3-D sculpted shapes. I have an idea in mind for a painting with nuts and bolts. Very industrial modern. |

This Picture was purposely taken in low light to show the shine of the silver leaf.
