Description:

I admit it, I'm a Rock Hound. I can't resist picking up rocks. So why not paint the things that I like? Painted rocks? No, paintings of rocks. Hence, The Geology Series. 

"The Geology Series, Blue Quartz 101" was created testing some new ideas. I wanted to try crystal formations imbedded in the host rock layers. I had a difficult time photographing this one. The colors are much more intense than the digital camera could capture. Perhaps I need a different type lighting. The dark areas are Raw Umber not black. 

This painting another example of my innovative Recycled Plastics Technique. The recycled plastic gives the canvas a wonderful surface texture. This texture is not only interesting to look at but creates a desire to touch the piece. This extreme texture is unattainable with any kind of paint gels.
