"Blanca Moon" was created using recycled
plastic milk jugs. This is a wonderful material to work with but is now
hard to find. Seems NASA is hording it for it's thermal properties.
This is my rendering of Mt. Blanca in Colorado. At
over 14,000 feet high, Mt. Blanca is one of the Navajo Indians 4 sacred
mountains. I love the rugged beauty of
this place. I've seen many paintings of mountains, but never a
painting of mountains at night. There is a lot of colors in this painting.
I love this piece, very dramatic.
"The Recycled Landscape Series, Blanca Moon" is
another example of my innovative Recycled Plastics Technique. The recycled
plastic gives the canvas a wonderful surface texture. This texture is not
only interesting to look at but creates a desire to touch the piece. This
extreme texture is unattainable
with any kind of paint gels.
The canvas requires extensive preparation before the painting can
begin. This is not something that can be rushed. This process is one that
I have developed over a long period of time. Creating
these paintings is not a simple process, but it is enjoyable and I love
how it keeps evolving. I love the way these pieces
look. They always get noticed and
commented on in my studio.
